What is RSS?

RSS stands for “Real Simple Syndication.” It’s an easy way for you to get the information you want from the D.C. Lottery website delivered directly to you instead of going to look for it. Once you’re set up to receive the D.C. Lottery feeds you want, you can view them all at once in one place.

How can I use RSS?

Typical applications for using RSS include:

  • Using a program known as a news aggregator to collect, update and display RSS feeds
  • Incorporating RSS feeds into blogs

News aggregators (also called news readers) will download and display RSS feeds for you. A number of free and commercial news aggregators are available for download. Popular news readers include Newsgator, Google Reader, My Yahoo! and Netvibes.

Many aggregators are separate "stand-alone" programs such as those listed above; other services will let you add RSS feeds to a web page. For instance, Yahoo! lets you add RSS feeds to your My Yahoo! page, so when you log into your Yahoo! account your D.C. Lottery feeds will be there waiting for you. Also, many RSS options are available from popular internet browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. D.C. Lottery RSS feeds are just one more way to share the winning experience!
