A $1 million winning POWERBALL ticket for the game played Wednesday, August 11, was sold at Northwest Auto Repair & Valero Gas, 5420 New Hampshire Avenue, NW. Once claimed, this will be the DC Lottery’s second million-dollar POWERBALL win in 2021.

On New Year’s Day, Carlos Mabry Carlos Mabry of Washington, DC learned of his $1 million win with POWERBALL’s First Millionaire of the Year promotion live on-air along with millions of viewers watching ABC’s broadcast of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2021.” 

“Two million-dollar POWERBALL wins in one year! This is a first in recent history—if ever—for the DC Lottery,” said Director Nicole Jordan, reminding readers that the agency has provided lottery entertainment to the District of Columbia for 39 years and is the only city-run lottery in the nation. 

Players have 180 days from date of the draw to claim their prize with the option of taking the cash payout or receive annuitize payments over 30 years. Players should know that the game ticket is a bearer instrument. The signature on the back of the ticket determines the recognized winner. 

Starting August 23, 2021, this national jackpot game will add a new Monday drawing to its lineup of Powerball drawings, currently held on Wednesday and Saturday. at 10:59 p.m. ET

The POWERBALL jackpot for this Wednesday’s game is an estimated $274 million with a cash option of $197.7 million.
