WASHINGTON, DC–There is plenty of buzz around office water coolers in the District lately, after a second pool of coworkers scored a $1 million prize from the DC Lottery.

Five Duces, a limited liability company formed by the coworkers, is set to claim the hefty prize they won for matching the first five numbers drawn in the October 23rd Mega Millions game. The jackpot for this drawing was an estimated $1.5 billion, the second largest in US jackpot history. The winning numbers were 5-28-62-65-70; and the Mega Ball was 5. This winning ticket was purchased at 7-ELEVEN, 1101 South Capitol Street, SW. The retailer will receive a $10,000 commission bonus on the sale.

Mega Millions is drawn every Tuesday and Friday. Game tickets are $2 each and are sold in the District of Columbia, 44 states across the US, and the US Virgin Islands.

This will be the second time in as many weeks that the DC Lottery has welcomed a pool of coworkers to its winners’ circle. On October 30th, a $25,000 A Year for Life prize, the second prize in the multi-state Lucky for Life game, was claimed on behalf of a group of colleagues. Their lucky ticket matched the first five numbers selected in the October 25th drawing.

With more than $11 million in prizes won, October 2018 was a winning month for DC Lottery players. Put into context, the DC Lottery awarded an estimated $117 million in total prizes for the entirety of Fiscal Year 2018 (October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018). That’s 10 percent of last year’s total winnings in one month alone. Including the prizes mentioned above, the DC Lottery also congratulated a $1 million winner in its new $10 Million Cash Extravaganza instant scratcher ticket, and three $10,000 Mega Millions winners in the \ October 23rd drawing, affirming indeed that “Lots of People Win” with the DC Lottery.
