Washington, DC – Coinciding with a temporary break from the city’s triple-digit temperatures, a select number of DC Lottery players are poised for an extraordinary downpour of dollars. DC5 players who wagered on 3-3-3-3-3 for yesterday’s midday game have won more than $2.5 million in cash prizes. This is the highest payout in the history of the DC5 game and the only time 3-3-3-3-3 has been drawn as its winning number.

DC5 is a 5-digit game played twice daily in the District of Columbia and has a top prize of $25,000 for a $.50 wager. Players who double their wager to $1 have the chance to win $50,000. For Monday’s midday game, there were 23 winning tickets sold at the $50,000 level and 56 winning tickets sold at the $25,000 level. Winning tickets were sold at 45 DC Lottery agent locations in every quadrant of the District. Some locations sold multiple winning tickets. The greatest number of winning tickets sold at one location was Safeway Store #4270, located at 1601 Maryland Avenue, NE, where seven winning tickets were generated—one for the $50,000 prize amount and six for the $25,000 prize.

“We are expecting a lot of happy winners to visit our Prize Center,” says Director of Marketing and Communications Nicole Jordan. “This historic win once again confirms that lots of people really do win with the DC Lottery!”

This is record-setting DC5 payout eclipses the previous high of $2.15 million for the evening game played Monday, November 17, 2014. The wining number for that game was 6-6-6-6-6.
