WASHINGTON, DC – DC Lottery players will soon have a chance for a lifetime of winning every day when the Lucky for Life® draw game expands from two drawings per week to seven drawings per week starting Monday, July 19, 2021, giving players a daily shot at winning $1,000 a day for the rest of their lives.

Drawings will be conducted nightly at 10:38 p.m. ET.  The cost per play, how the game is played, and the prize structure will remain the same.

Since the game’s introduction to the DC Lottery in 2015, there have been more than one million Lucky for Life® winners in DC including five $25,000 a Year for Life winners!  

The Lucky for Life® game is currently drawn on Mondays and Thursdays. All drawings will continue to take place at 10:38 p.m. ET.  Tickets are $2 per play and are on sale at any lottery retailer licensed within the participating states until 9:30 p.m. ET on the night of the drawing. Winning tickets must be redeemed in the state in which they were purchased.

To play Lucky for Life®, a player must select five (5) out of 48 numbers and one (1) out of 18 numbers in the Lucky Ball Pool.  Players matching all five numbers, plus the Lucky Ball, win $1,000 a day, every day, for the rest of their life.  Players matching the first five numbers correctly, but do not match the Lucky Ball, win $25,000 a year for their lifetime.  Each of the lifetime prizes are guaranteed for a minimum of 20 years, but will continue to be paid out for the duration of each winner’s lifetime.

About Lucky for Life®

  • Tickets cost $2 each, and are valid for one drawing.
  • Drawings are held every Monday and Thursday night (until July 19) at 10:38 p.m. ET.
  • Following each drawing, drawings can be viewed via upload on www.luckyforlife.us, or, on each state’s individual social media and websites.
  • The top prize is up to $1,000 a day, every day, for life when matching five (5) numbers plus the Lucky Ball number.  The prize is payable as an annuity or lump sum.
  • Players who match the first five numbers win up to $25,000 a year for life.  The prize is payable as an annuity or lump sum.
  • “For Life” prizes are payable for the length of a winner’s natural life.  At minimum, 20 years’ worth of payments are guaranteed.  Payments could last much longer, based on the lifespan of the winner.
  • Eight other cash prizes range from $3 to $5,000.
  • Overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 7.8. 
  • Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 30,821,472.
